March 2024
February seems to have been a bit short on flying days, so grab it while you can.
Saturday 10th eventually provided a very pleasant afternoon and glorious evening after the mist cleared.
Blencathra's ridge worked reasonably well for an hour or so in a light SE breeze. The photograph is of Phil Kew flying his Supair Savage with Hall's Fell Ridge in the background, and beyond Clough Head and High Street.

Saturday 6th January; the first sunny day of the year!  Light northerly winds saw Malc Grout, Dave Ashcroft & Paul Clarke at Ennerdale. The picture shows Dave Ashcroft launching from Crag Fell with Paul Clarke looking on ready to follow.

October 2023
Sunday 1st October was forecast to be a windy WSW day but easing later in the afternoon. The tide would also be out by then and it looked like St Bee's would give an opportunity for some late afternoon soaring in the sunshine.

September 2023
Saturday 15th April was again southerly. Blencathra and Skiddaw worked well, with good clouds out front and some sea breeze convergence. The picture shows Jim Foulkes flying his Ozone Delta with Keswick and Derwent Water in front of the glider.Â

August 2023
This year provided soarable conditions for the Grassmere Sports Accuracy Competition on Sunday 27th August, so long as one did not mind flying in light drizzle in the morning, and then brighter but breezier conditions in the afternoon.  A number of pilots posted very goodÂ
scores with one DC.  Later on conditions became more challenging with the increasing breeze, and pilots tending to land short.  The picture shows Paul Clarke flying an Ozone Swift making a second launch in the afternoon. Very useful for getting the glider dry.

July 2023
Thursday 13th July was a decent forecast in an otherwise rather windy and showery week. Light to moderate SW forecast to increase in the afternoon. The morning provided a good paragliding wind on the St Bee's dunes with an easy run down to the Sellafield airspace boundary and return. As forecast it picked up and Shaun McGuirk had wisely brought his hang glider as well as a paraglider. It is not often we see hang gliders on our sites these days, so giving Shaun a wire off was a pleasure.

June 2023
Wednesday 24th May dawned some what windier than many forecasts had suggested.
RASP BL average wind was probably one of the accurate ones. Paragliding inland was not going to be on, and the coast was hanglider wind strength wind rather than floppy. The picture shows Gordie Oliver flying a Flare Moustach 15. These gliders excel in these sort of coastal conditions, and for those who like a good wang around are an absolute hoot.
